So is “Speed” a bad movie? Like, “Running Man” is a ridiculous film but it doesn’t take itself too seriously. “Speed” is serious for the most part. So there’s a small difference in something that’s bad versus that’s goofy. That said, some movies don’t stand the test of time. I personally thought “Speed” was good, but after a debate between friends, I see there’s no consensus. It’s a good high octane film, but it’s not a shoot everyone kind of movie. It works on a different level as well as having an ensemble cast.
“Con Air” is goofy but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously…does it? Again, it’s up to viewers, but I put Speed in the Elite action films of the 90s category because the story was absurd yet interesting. There aren’t many other films like Speed…because the bus can’t stop or else it’ll blow up. Kinda hard to rip that off. Will there be a remake you think?
